Greetings everyone! Good Friday, a day of remembrance in the Christian faith. Jesus Christ was crucified (killed on the Cross) about 2000 years ago, which is what Good Friday commemorates. However, you may be wondering why it is called "Good" Friday when it marks the death of an innocent person.
God is holy, perfectly moral and uncompromisingly righteous, and His standards would be stricter than ours. We would all stand guilty if God judges us based on these standards. All of us have clearly broken God's laws and are bound to the eternal punishment of hell.
Despite God's perfect righteousness, God loves all of us. So he made way for us humans to be saved from this punishment. God came up unto our world as a human(as Jesus) and took our punishment on the Cross. Jesus is the man who was holy and perfectly moral. He was the perfect example of the actual human that God wants all of us to be.
The Passion of Jesus Christ
The word Passion is an Old French word that means "the sufferings of Christ on the Cross." Jesus was brutal lashed with unique Roman stripes. These stripes would dig into His muscles on each hit, tearing out chunks of flesh and exposing the bone beneath. Later, he was crucified with a nail through each hand and a nail through both of his feet on the Cross.
Instead, one of the soldiers pierced Jesus’ side with a spear, bringing a sudden flow of blood and water.
In the end, the soldiers impaled a spear through Jesus' side to ensure he was dead. Blood and water came out, referring to the watery fluid surrounding the heart and lungs. There is much more to the suffering Jesus endured physically, mentally & spiritually. You can read more in this article.
For even the Son of Man [Jesus] came not to be served but to serve others and to give his life as a ransom for many.
Some of Jesus' last words on the Cross were, "It is finished". In other words, the debt of our sin has been paid. That's what makes it Good. The loving act of one ultimate holy sacrifice for the sins of mankind and to provide us with the way to salvation. On the third day of his death after the crucifixion, Jesus defeats death and sin through his Resurrection. All of this confirms that Jesus is the Son Of God, through whom we would have eternal life. So in order to be saved, one must repent (to sincerely accept and regret one's own sin) and accept Jesus Christ as their lord and saviour. Anyone who does so is justified on the day of judgement through Christ & can enter God's Kingdom. It is not because we are holy or good, but because of God's grace, we receive this gift of salvation.
For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
God would also grant such a person a new heart that hates to sin, tries to flee from sin, a heart that loves God and wants to follow His ways and loves others selflessly (resembling God's self-giving unconditional love).
There are a lot of religions in the world. On the surface level, it is striking to see that all faiths (or at least the major ones) are based on moral values. But on closer inspection, all beliefs contradict each other. How can this be? We are supposed to treat each other respectfully, but clashing views cannot be true simultaneously. Then how can a person know which is true or if all of these beliefs are just false altogether? The person must look for evidence that supports the claims or opinions. When this is done, Christianity stands strikingly strong apart from other religions.

Jesus Christ claims that He is the only true way to God and salvation. It is upto the person to choose whether to accept or deny Him.
